Broadfork
Broadfork
This handmade Broadfork, also known as a Grelinette, is a garden tool used for turning, aerating and tilling soil. It is designed to loosen the soil without disturbing or turning the layers, which is beneficial for maintaining soil structure and preserving its life. In addition, the broadfork makes it easier to mix compost and fertilisers into the soil.
To use the broadfork, drive the fork into the ground by standing on the horizontal bar. Then move the two handles forwards and backwards – the fork will dig itself in. After the fork reaches the desired depth, step off the beam and pull the fork backwards, while holding the handles at the highest position. This motion requires very little effort and makes working the entire garden in this way a breeze!
TIDBIT: The handles are detachable for easy transport.
