Scandinavian Forest Axe
Scandinavian Forest Axe
The Scandinavian Forest Axe is a more professional axe, ideal for felling larger trees and for limbing a felled tree.
Like all Gränsfors Bruk Forest Axes, the head is specially designed to cut across the grain of the wood fibres (in contrast to the Splitting Axes, which are specially designed to cut along the grain of the wood fibres).
The Axe is forged to a curved bit, making it suitable for cutting into fresh, resinous wood such as pine and eucalypts. The long handle gives more power to the cut.

{Information}Care Instructions
Axes should be kept in a dry place, but not so dry or warm that the handle risks shrinking in the axe head. Make sure that the axe head and sheath are not wet when you put on the sheath. Oil the axe head before the axe is put away for some time. An un-oiled axe head may rust. We recommend oiling the head with camellia oil. All axes from Gränsfors Bruk come with properly dried handles. Handles need to be maintained. Oil handles for a protective coat against heat and water. Unoiled handles may cause the handle to crack and weaken. We recommend oiling the handle with boiled linseed oil. Frequency depends on conditions. At the very least oil the handle once a year. Please contact us if a replacement handle or sheath is required.
