Grip Scissors - Pointy
Grip Scissors - Pointy
Traditional Japanese thread snips are used for a variety of intricate sewing tasks – in addition to cutting all types of sewing and knitting threads. The ‘Pointy’ snip has longer blades compared to the traditional ‘Claw’ snip. This is important when intricate work requires users to see around their fingertips.
The snips are forged, sharpened and aligned by hand. The edge steel used in the fabrication of the snips results in a superior cutting tool - with excellent edge retention and sharpening properties.
These snips are suitable for professional, experienced and aspiring dressmakers, tailors and knitters.
These snips are hand-forged. As a result, there may be minor differences in appearance and dimensions, when compared to images and dimensions stated on this page.

Only use the scissors for cutting fabric, thread and wool.
These scissors are made from carbon steel and sharpened to the highest standard; therefore, the edge is very sharp. Carbon steel is prized due to its excellent edge retention and ease of sharpening. However, carbon steel does require maintenance to avoid corrosion.
When cleaning and maintaining your scissors, ensure your hands remain clear of the edge.
Be careful not to drop the scissors as this could cause chipping or misalignment.
Sharpening should be performed by a professional sharpener.
To care for your scissors, you will require camellia oil and two clean cloths.
1. Wipe the blades of any moisture and dirt with the first cloth. We recommend you wipe the blades with the edge pointed away from you.
2. Apply a small amount of the oil to the second cloth and work the oil into cloth by rubbing the cloth together.
3. Rub the oil onto the blade in the same manner as point 1.
A thin layer of oil is sufficient. Any oil under the screws will help the blades operate smoothly. You don't need to oil the scissors after each use. You can use them continuously as long as there is a veneer of oil on the blades.
